Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has revealed that he fears England midfielder Joe Cole has already agreed a deal to join another club and that a move to Spurs is unlikely.

Cole was released by Chelsea at the beginning of the summer along with German international Michael Ballack and has been linked with many clubs, including Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Real Madrid but the rumour linking him with a move to Spurs to team up with former mentor Redknapp has refused to go away.

Redknapp managed West Ham when Cole was a youngster and helped launch the playmaker’s career by giving him a chance in the first team at just 17 years old and turning Cole into a teenage superstar.

With Spurs qualifying for the Champions League last season, the North London club will surely be able to sign top players this season, something they have been unable to do for a long time now.

These factors have led to Cole, who has been in the news a lot recently due to the call from John Terry for him to be named in the England starting XI for the match against Slovenia, being reportedly interested in signing for Spurs.

Redknapp, though, has admitted that this is unlikely and the former Bournemouth and Portsmouth boss has stated that he has a feeling that Cole has already put a deal in place to join Sir AleX Ferguson’s men at Manchester United.

“I’ve got a feeling that it might have been done (for Cole to join United),” he said.

“It wouldn’t surprise me in the least. Joe’s not wanted to speak to anybody and his people have been saying ‘let’s get the World Cup out of the way first’.

“But we’d be interested for sure. I like Joe.”

Spurs are set to compete in the European cup for the first time since 1962 this coming season and although they will be by no means among the favourites, their fans will be dreaming about emulating their performance in that tournament and reaching the semi finals.

Spurs are 66/1 with Coral to win the Champions League, with bwin offering 50/1 odds and Paddy Power 40/1.

The 2010 Fifa World Cup should prove to be one of the finest competitions yet – often, one of the major nations do not reach the finals, however this year, the only casualty in the qualifying rounds was Russia. The tournament will be the 19th World Cup, and the first to be held in Africa. The following articles provide a team by team profile of the nations who have excellent chances of lifting the trophy come the summer of 2010. Firstly, we assess Brazil’s credentials and offer variety of stats that paint a picture of their World Cup history. Although the team are not considered favourites for the next competition because of their relatively inexperienced squad, many experts and critics still suggest it will be the South American’s who lift the trophy come the end of the World Cup 2010.

Next, we analyse England’s chances of winning the tournament – and after being handed a generally favourable draw in the group stages, they are currently the team on everybody’s lips. Could we see a repeat of the 1966 glory year for the country? After this, we offer a guide to the Germany team set to be on the plane to South Africa.

Despite being written off by almost everyone but their own fans, the Germans will inevitably be hard to defeat – they always are – and are unlikely to lose cheaply. Finally, we assess Diego Maradona’s Argentinean team – a side that have showed baffling form in the qualification rounds. Messi and company were at one minute being humiliated by lesser known opposition and minnow countries, and the next, comfortably defeating the top sides in the South American group. Our concluding articles assesses whether the star-studded team will have enough of a defensive mindset to stop the likes of Spain, England, and Brazil.

The biggest sporting event by far in 2010 is the World Cup to be held in South Africa. The World Cup is like the Olympics of football. Football is by far the most popular sport in the world and the anticipation for the Cup, even though it’s months away, is already building and being talked about on a daily basis. Drama has already begun to unfold as France illegally qualifies after the hand ball by Thierry Henry thus knocking Ireland out of the competition. England played qualifiers brilliantly earning them a top seeded spot with America, Algeria and Slovenia in their group. Despite most England fans breathing a sigh of relief with the rest of the group under England, the Yanks have made it clear that they will be no pushover.

As you’d expect, the closer we get to the June 11 2010 kickoff the worldwide coverage will only increase dramatically. Nostalgia for games past will mean seeing great World Cup moments from the past as well as highlights of this year’s squads and predictions of which teams should make it to the quarters and which teams may cause upsets. Also expect to see lots of coverage from non-traditional media such as fans and citizens filming world cup highlights and posting on YouTube. The internet will be the full of photos, commentaries, video of all aspects of this major event. World Cup 2010 coverage is expected to surpass the last Cup in Germany in 2006. This should make for a very exciting tournament and I personally cannot wait!

Arsenal FC is one of England’s most popular team of late. The team was founded in 1886 by a group of Woolwich artillery workers in south London. Originally the clubs name wasn’t Arsenal at all, rather they were called Dial Square. Shortly afterwards they were renamed to Royal Arsenal which was perhaps more befitting of its founding fathers. However, as Arsenal became a professional team, they were renamed once again this time calling themselves Woolwich Arsenal.

It wasn’t long after turning professional that the Woolwich name was eliminated naming the club as we know it today. Many people referred to the club now as The Arsenal but in fact, this was not the official name. In 1893 Arsenal FC played in the second division of the Football League but less than a decade later in 1904 they were promoted to the first division. At first Arsenal played relatively well but unfortunately were knocked back to the second division after almost 10 years of playing in the first.

Arsenal played for almost 3 decades in Plumstead, South London but eventually moved to Arsenal Stadium in Highbury, North London. It was believed that if Arsenal moved to north London they would have better chance at success. Sir Henry Norris inspire the club’s move and success did begin to come from the team as they nearly made it back to the first division the very next season.

Sometimes we forget that the great teams of today all had to start somewhere and usually with modest beginnings. Arsenal surely is one of those teams with an interesting past.

With the World Cup 2010 fast approaching all eyes are now on the odds for the top 10 teams predicted to win. Most bookies both online and land based have now established odds for all 32 teams with 5 time winners Brazil stacked to win.

The opening match is set to kick off in Soccer City Stadium, Johannesburg with the host nation South Africa playing against Mexico. The final will take place July 11th and who will win really is anybody’s game. The beauty of betting is that despite the odds, either in favour or against, anything could happen to change the way things run. A red card, a penalty and even an own goal could upset the state of play and as will all previous World Cup championships there will no doubt be room for many a surprise.

The number of bets is endless and you can simply back your favourite team to win or wage on who you think might be the top goal scorer. The excitement is growing on a daily basis and more and more information is being complied relating to each and every team, the players and of course group selection.

As it stands England are amongst the top 5 predicted to win and odds are based not just on past World Cup history but also games won in the qualifying stages of the tournament. Since England won all their games putting them through without problem, speculation has mounted as to whether or not we might just bring the World Cup home. Brazil undoubtedly will be the ones to watch with Euro Cup 2008 winners Spain backed second favourites.

Sports betting in the UK is quite popular and there are numerous sports in which to place your bet. Some of the more popular bets to place are on horses, dogs, but even more popular is on football. There are a ton of online sports betting sites such as BetFred, PaddyPower, William Hill to name a few. Many offer new punters a free signup bonus where they’ll either give you free cash, match your deposit up to a certain amount, or both. If you’re new to betting, have a read of the tips below on how to engage in sports betting the smart way.

One of the biggest tips to consider if you’re new to sports betting is to only bet a small amount at first. Get your feet wet by placing small bets until you feel quite confident you understand the techniques involved such as odds on games, odds on scores, even odds on certain teams losing. If you plan to take betting serious, you’ll definitely want to develop a strategy, just as you would with poker or other casino games. The more you win, you can then place higher bets using your profits until you have a sufficient enough pot of cash to place large bets for big wins.

Whatever you do, enjoy the game and have fun betting on football. Set limits to how much you’re willing to wager and stick to a disciplined approach. Football sports betting can actually earn you a nice income if played right with the correct mindset.
